Objective: To preserve, perpetuate, stimulate, promote and share the exposure and enjoyment of Jazz music both on the air and in live performance settings.
  

Format:

Will mostly feature independent Jazz and Blues artists who don't otherwise receive significant air-play, and artists from small independent labels, with whom I have networked or become acquainted over the years, and whom have submitted their recordings for my review and enjoyment, and which I aim to share with my audience.
My personal collection of recordings--which mirrors my contact file--is a smorgasbord of styles and ensembles(from soloists to small combos to big bands), so you will enjoy a great variety through this program.  


The majority of them are working musicians who appear in local nightclubs, schools, festivals and music showcases, and a number of them are artists renowned from other music genres or entertainment mediums, such as CINDY BLACKMAN(Lenny Kravitz's drummer) or CHARLIE DECHANT( long-time saxman for Hall & Oates), or even JO MARIE PAYTON(actress and former co-star on The New Odd Couple, Perfect Strangers, Family Matters and The Proud Family).

As a special feature of the radio program, some of my musician friends will be invited to visit "The Jazz Zone" in the studio of WLFR, to guest host on the show, talk about and introduce their recordings, and even perform "live" on the air! (These appearances may not be announced in advance, except on this website, so check back regularly.)
When & Where:

"The Jazz Zone" weekly radio show can be enjoyed on  Wednesdays from 4:30pm-7:00pm on WLFR FM 91.7 locally or www.wlfr.fm online, starting on a date in September to be announced.

"The Jazz Zone Live" weekly Jazz parties at Proud Mary's Sports Bar & Grill(pictured at right), located at the corner of Fairmount & Sovereign Avenues in Atlantic City, starting on a date in October to be announced.
